Building Common Practices: Detail Generating Questions

Written by Kylene Reed | August 30, 2022

Even for some of our most beginning writers, using tools like DGQ's helps to generate specific details in student writing. This lesson comes from a kindergarten class who is just beginning to put their writing on paper. While studying dental health, my friend, and amazing writing guru, Lauren,  modeled for her teachers how to use this technique! Even at the foundational level, our students are learning what is necessary for them to become skilled writers!

By teaching skills in isolation, we are filling our student toolboxes so that our writers are able to generate pieces that are filled with all the good stuff! Keep practicing all day, every day!
