Fall Descriptive Writing

Read Time 1 mins | September 19, 2023 | Written by: Kylene Reed

Just this morning, I read a post on a teacher page that I follow that said, "A writing teacher's dream: To mold and mentor students who hate writing with a passion and transform them into writers who are passionate about expressing themselves in written form." THIS is what I am passionate about and why I am passionate about sharing Empowering Writers with all of you. What we do each and every day in our classrooms helps to steer our students in one way or another with every subject we teach. Sometimes, teachers need to hear it's okay to make something fun. We can stay in our curriculum and engage our students at the same time. Especially with writing! I can teach all of the writing skills my students need through any topic or unit. So, this fall, let's have some fun. Let's get our students excited about writing, and let's help them to use words to express themselves.  This is one of my all-time favorite lessons to go to when teaching descriptive writing. It really helps students to see the true power in words. These foundational skills are imperative to building strong writers in all genres. We want them to write with voice and passion as they begin to learn to express themselves. Download this oldie, but a goodie here!
