MLK Lesson of the Month- Samples

Read Time 2 mins | February 2, 2023 | Written by: Kylene Reed

Our first graders were so engaged in learning more about MLK. I love that our teachers at Oak Dale are integrating reading and writing into all parts of our students' day, especially science and social studies! This lesson is about taking notes from content learned in the read-aloud and then turning those notes into responses. So far this year, we have been working on developing great sentences with correct capitalization and punctuation taught in A Sentence A Day and the skills learned in our phonics lessons. This semester, we want to stretch our kids to write multiple sentences about the same main idea, developing paragraph writing. This lesson kicked off our second semester in January and turned out perfectly! Get the lesson here if you have not downloaded it yet, and be sure to share your samples on my FB group!
