I thought you would all like to have this idea to start the year off! I created this template for my students to use throughout the year to practice writing simple, compound, and complex sentences. I pull it out each month and have them create the sentences and drawings and then add them to their notebook. This is just one of those skills that I have to teach and review over and over again. Even though the students quickly remember the process, I am finding that in their writing pieces they are not having a variety of sentence types. So practice, practice, practice!
