Have a look at this expository piece written by a sixth grade student. It has a sense of organization, but little in terms of interesting language, and elaboration. It is, basically, a collection of simple facts around main ideas.

Using the “Author’s Group Model” approach for revision, this student created a well developed piece that elaborates fully on the supporting details.
