March 2021 Grades K-1 Lesson of the Month

Students are going to love this trip to the ocean in the text, Ocean Animals from Head to Tail by Stacey Roderick and Kwanchai Moriya. In this text, they’ll be introduced to many ocean creatures and be asked to take notes (or have an adult script for them). Then, they’ll take those notes and apply the detail generating questions, What does it look like? and Why is it important? to fully expand their details into sentences. This lesson can be used as a prototype for any topic you choose. Just substitute your theme, include some rich literature or text, and adjust the slides accordingly.
